mBIOTA Labs Partners with Hobbs Medical to Support Potential SIBO Diagnoses

This partnership aims to improve the SIBO patient journey by improving access to wider diagnostic testing options and shortening the time to symptom relief
Santa Monica, Calif. – June 10, 2026 – mBIOTA Labs, an emerging medical food company revolutionizing medical nutrition for the management of gastrointestinal (GI) conditions, today announces a strategic partnership with Hobbs Medical Inc., a global manufacturer and direct supplier of quality accessories for flexible GI and pulmonary endoscopy, to improve patient access to the gold standard of SIBO diagnostic testing.
As part of the collaboration, mBIOTA customers without a SIBO diagnosis that are interested in being tested for the condition can be recommended to providers that already use Hobbs Medical Inc.’s CleanCapture™ Aspiration Catheter for diagnostic testing. CleanCapture is an innovative single-use aspiration catheter designed to obtain fluid samples from the small bowel. Aspiration catheters are the most specific and accurate SIBO diagnostic method, and Hobbs Medical’s innovative device solves for the historical challenges of capturing uncontaminated samples from the small bowel with traditional aspiration methods, enhancing the sample integrity during endoscopic procedures. Following the diagnostic results, patients will then have access to information about mBIOTA Elemental Diet and its efficacy as an option to manage their SIBO, if diagnosed, or other GI conditions.
“The GI field is experiencing a significant wave of innovation and we’re proud to partner with Hobbs Medical to expand patient access to these advancements,” said Nicola Wodlinger, CEO of mBIOTA Labs. “Telltale symptoms of SIBO often overlap with other common GI conditions or can be obscured by primary conditions. This can make the SIBO diagnosis process long and challenging, despite ongoing industry efforts to close persisting knowledge gaps. This partnership shortens the road to diagnosis and condition management by directing patients to providers already equipped with the most advanced diagnostic tools and a clinically proven approach to GI dysfunction.”
Hobbs Medical specializes in the design and manufacturing of custom diagnostic and therapeutic accessories for the Gastrointestinal and Pulmonary Endoscopy markets. It offers standard Endoscopic Accessories, including softer plastic pancreatic and biliary stents, foreign body retrieval devices, catheters and specialty items like CleanCapture for SIBO diagnostics. CleanCapture became available in February 2026, providing gastroenterologists another method for efficient and reliable sampling.
“For GI patients, an accurate diagnosis is the critical first step to ensuring they receive the right care, which is why we’re excited to partner with another industry disruptor like mBIOTA Labs to expand access to the latest advancements in SIBO diagnosis and treatment,” said Brian Murray, General Manager at Hobbs Medical. “The CleanCapture Aspiration Catheter enables physicians to accurately diagnose bacterial and fungal overgrowth, while mBIOTA Labs’ clinically proven management protocols help guide effective treatment, creating a stronger path to relief for patients from diagnosis through recovery.”
